Brookes Brothers [UK]
Posted by milestone on Wednesday, October 22 @ 10:40:50 EST

The ‘Brookes Brothers’, or Phil and Dan to their mates, have emerged as one of the major breakthrough drum n bass artists of recent years. Raised in London, the two brothers discovered a love for the more soulful sounds of drum’n’bass around the turn of the millenium. It was not long before they began producing in 2002.

Fast forward six years and the brothers have already established themselves as some of the most exciting producers on the scene. Their debut 12” ‘Portal/Desert Island’ came out on Danny Wheeler’s W10 imprint to immediate acclaim, setting the Brookes’ on their road to success.

Note: Catch Brookes Brothers on Saturday November 22 with Melbourne dnb the massive collective Johnny Hooves, JPS, MC Dizyak, Eswaran and local Mylestone!

LYRICS BORN (US)
Posted by dan on Sunday, July 27 @ 13:48:22 EST

One of the most critically acclaimed and best-selling independent hip-hop artists of this era, Lyrics Born is not the type to sit still. While recording his fourth solo album, completing new projects, and making decisions at Quannum Projects, he still averaged over 150 sold-out shows a year. He's a whirlwind.
"Everything is kinda happening all at once all the time. You're kinda being bombarded," says hip-hop's premier multi-tasker. "The challenge for me is this: How can I keep myself inspired and entertained? How can I go in different directions yet still be entertaining to more people than before?"

Note: LYRICS BORN hits Hobart with full band in tow 5th of August (aka dans 30th bday party) @ Republic supported by NYorkers J Live @ DJ Flo Fader ¬ TICKETS BOUT TO SELL OUT SO GET IN!!!

BOOGIE ARMY (GERMANY)
Posted by dan on Friday, July 18 @ 13:07:38 EST

Boogie Army have been hosting their own events for eight years now, making theirs the longest running Breaks nights in Germany. They have toured with Krafty Kuts, Dub Pistols and Leeroy Thornhill, played gigs from Ibiza to Siberia, London to Liechtenstein and they have rocked massive events like Love Parade, Streetparade Zürich and the infamous Kazantip Festival. From 10 to 10000 people, Boogie Army have done it all - and always gone for it like that party was the last.

RENNIE PILGREM (UK)
Posted by dan on Monday, July 07 @ 17:50:01 EST

Son of a jazz trumpeter, Rennie started life playing tenor saxophone and sitting with his Father’s various bands around Southern England. Later he formed various funk bands playing sax and keyboards.. After making rudimentary House music on the wrong kind of drum machines with soon to be Rhythm Section members Ellis Dee, Richard Thake and Nick ‘Newton Scott, they had interest from (amongst others) the new British house label Guerrilla. Preferring to release their own material they formed Rhythm Section Recordings and became part of the wave of breakbeat house that went on to become known as Hardcore in the early ‘90’s.

Note: RENNIE PLAYS HOBART THIS MONTH WITH HIS FIRST ARTIST ALBUM IN THREE YEARS ¬ CHECK OUT WHY HE IS CALLED THE GODFATHER OF BREAKS ¬ 18TH @ HALO
